File Attachments

File blocks let you attach downloadable documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, and other files to your tags.

Adding Files

Upload from Device

  1. Click +File
  2. Click Upload or drag and drop
  3. Select a file from your device
  4. File uploads and appears in your tag

Drag and Drop

  1. Drag a file from your computer
  2. Drop it into the editor
  3. File block is created automatically

Multiple Files

  1. Click +File
  2. Select multiple files (Ctrl/Cmd + click)
  3. Each file becomes a separate block

Supported File Types

tagd-ai accepts most common file types:

Documents

  • PDF (.pdf)
  • Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx)
  • Microsoft Excel (.xls, .xlsx)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx)
  • Text files (.txt)
  • Rich Text (.rtf)

Archives

  • ZIP (.zip)
  • RAR (.rar)
  • 7-Zip (.7z)
  • TAR (.tar, .tar.gz)

Data

  • CSV (.csv)
  • JSON (.json)
  • XML (.xml)

Other

  • Most common file types are supported
  • Executable files (.exe, .app) are blocked
  • Some file types may be scanned for security

File Block Display

File blocks show:

  • File icon - Based on file type
  • File name - Original filename
  • File size - In KB, MB, or GB
  • Download button - Click to download

File Options

Click on a file block:

Rename

Change the display name:

  1. Click Rename
  2. Enter new name
  3. Original file extension preserved

Replace

Upload a new version:

  1. Click Replace
  2. Upload new file
  3. Same block, updated content

Delete

Remove the file:

  1. Click Delete
  2. Confirm removal
  3. File is permanently deleted

PDF Preview

PDF files have special handling:

Inline Preview

PDFs can display inline:

  1. Click Show Preview
  2. First page appears in the tag
  3. Click to open full viewer

PDF Viewer

Clicking a PDF opens the viewer:

  • Page navigation
  • Zoom controls
  • Download option
  • Fullscreen mode

Disable Preview

  1. Click Hide Preview
  2. Shows as standard file block

File Descriptions

Add context to your files:

  1. Click on the file block
  2. Click Add Description
  3. Type a brief explanation
  4. Description appears below the file

Download Tracking

Track file downloads:

  1. Go to tag Analytics
  2. View File Downloads section
  3. See download counts per file

Available metrics:

  • Total downloads
  • Unique downloaders
  • Download timing
  • Device types

Security Options

Password Protection

Protect file downloads:

  1. Click Require Password
  2. Set a password
  3. Viewers must enter password to download

Watermarking

For PDFs (Pro feature):

  1. Click Add Watermark
  2. Configure watermark text
  3. Downloaded PDFs include watermark

Organizing Files

Multiple Files in One Tag

Group related files:

File Order

Drag file blocks to reorder them within the tag.

Sections

Use text blocks with headings to create file sections:

Version Control

Replacing Files

When you replace a file:

  • Same block, new content
  • Old file is removed
  • Download count resets

Versioning with Names

Include version in filename:

  • Manual_v1.0.pdf
  • Manual_v1.1.pdf
  • Manual_v2.0.pdf

Best Practices

File Naming

  • Use descriptive names
  • Include version numbers if applicable
  • Avoid special characters
  • Keep names reasonably short

Organization

  • Group related files together
  • Use sections with headings
  • Add descriptions for context
  • Limit files per tag (5-10 recommended)

User Experience

  • Use common formats (PDF for documents)
  • Optimize file sizes
  • Provide descriptions
  • Consider mobile users (large files = slow)

Troubleshooting

Upload Failed

  • Check file size limits
  • Verify file type is supported
  • Check internet connection
  • Try a different browser

Can't Download

  • Verify you have view permission
  • Check if password protected
  • Try a different browser
  • Check internet connection

File Corrupted

  • Re-upload the original file
  • Verify the source file is valid
  • Try a different file format

Slow Downloads

  • Large files take time
  • Check internet connection
  • Consider compressing files
  • Split into smaller files if possible

Storage Management

Monitor your storage usage:

  1. Go to AccountStorage
  2. View usage by tag
  3. See largest files
  4. Delete unused files to free space
