Use your mobile device to scan QR codes and barcodes, accessing tag content instantly.

Scanning Methods​

Phone Camera App​

Most phones have built-in QR scanning:

iPhone (iOS 11+):

  1. Open Camera app
  2. Point at QR code
  3. Tap the notification banner
  4. Opens in Safari/tagd-ai

Android:

  1. Open Camera app
  2. Point at QR code
  3. Tap the link that appears
  4. Some phones need Google Lens

tagd-ai Scanner​

Built-in scanner with extra features:

  1. Open tagd-ai (app or browser)
  2. Tap the Scan button
  3. Point camera at code
  4. Instantly opens the tag

Google Lens​

For Android devices:

  1. Open Google Lens (or Google app)
  2. Point at QR code
  3. Tap to open link

Using the tagd-ai Scanner​

Accessing​

  • Tap Scan in navigation
  • Or swipe right from dashboard
  • Works in PWA and browser

Features​

  • Flashlight - Toggle light for dark conditions
  • History - View recently scanned codes
  • Multi-scan - Scan multiple codes quickly
  • Barcode support - Linked barcodes work too

Scan History​

  1. Tap Scan → History
  2. View previous scans
  3. Tap to revisit any tag
  4. Clear history if needed

Barcode Scanning​

Linked Barcodes​

If a barcode is linked to a tag:

  1. Scan the barcode
  2. tagd-ai looks up the linked tag
  3. Tag content displays

Supported Formats​

  • QR Code
  • UPC-A / UPC-E
  • EAN-8 / EAN-13
  • Code 128 / Code 39
  • Data Matrix

Linking Barcodes​

  1. Open your tag
  2. Go to Settings → Linked Barcode
  3. Scan the barcode
  4. Or enter manually
  5. Save

Scanning Tips​

For Best Results​

  • Hold phone steady
  • Ensure good lighting
  • Fill 50-70% of frame with code
  • Avoid extreme angles
  • Clean camera lens

Troubleshooting Scans​

Code won't scan:

  • Move closer or farther
  • Improve lighting
  • Clean the code surface
  • Try different angle

Wrong link opening:

  • Ensure scanning correct code
  • Check code isn't damaged
  • Verify tag still exists

Camera not working:

  • Grant camera permission
  • Close and reopen app
  • Restart phone if needed

Quick Actions After Scan​

Tag Actions​

After scanning, you can:

  • View - Read the content
  • Edit - Modify (if permitted)
  • Share - Send to others
  • Star - Add to favorites
  • Analytics - View stats

Speed Dial​

Frequently accessed tags:

  1. Scan the tag
  2. Tap Star to save
  3. Access from Starred in dashboard
  4. Quick access without scanning

Batch Scanning​

Inventory Mode​

For scanning multiple items:

  1. Tap Scan → Batch Mode
  2. Scan items continuously
  3. Each code logged
  4. Review list when done
  5. Export or process

Accessibility​

VoiceOver (iOS)​

  1. Enable VoiceOver in Settings
  2. Open tagd-ai scanner
  3. VoiceOver announces when code detected

TalkBack (Android)​

  1. Enable TalkBack in Settings
  2. Open scanner
  3. Audio feedback on detection
  4. Follow prompts to open

Privacy​

What's Scanned​

  • Only codes you point at
  • Not continuous background scanning
  • No automatic uploads

Data Shared​

  • Scan request to tagd-ai servers
  • No personal data in scan
  • Tag content retrieved

Offline Scanning​

What Works​

  • Previously viewed tags (cached)
  • Basic QR code reading
  • Queue for later sync

What Doesn't​

  • New tags not yet cached
  • Linked barcode lookup
  • Real-time updates
